This ramp is actually the third version that got erected in this legendary location mistakenly known as the Schellingwouderbrug. The original ramp was by far the best one of them all and was considered as one of the best ramps in Europe during this period. The ramp lasted from 1988 until June 1997 when the ramp got burned because of a homeless person who had built himself a home underneath the ramp. Both did not survive the fire and efforts were made to build a new ramp…

June 6th of 1998 is when the second version of the ramp was finished but much to everyone’s disappointment the ramp wasn’t built nearly as good as the original bridgeramp. The steel sheets starting rusting almost immediately and the frame wasn’t rigid enough making the vertramp ‘wobbly’ when being used. The steel rusted  so much that locals started calling the ramp the RedRamp. Due to inadequate construction the ramp was labelled unsafe to skate and got fenced off and torn down in September 2001.

The current, third version of the Bridgeramp pictured here dates back to October 2002 and this time they rotated the ramp 90 degrees for better overview. Using the same steel frame from the second version it got some reinforcements and new stainless steel sheets were added. To give the stainless steel better grip all sheets received a sandblasting treatment making the ramp extremely grippy the first few months.

The steel sheets are sparsely attached to the frame. The outcome of this engineering is wobbly steel sheets with broken welding leaving the ramp in rather poor condition today.
